“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5: 14 – 16

Emmaus EFC moved into the Macpherson area in year 2012. We believe that it is God’s arrangement for us to be located in this area. Being saved by grace through faith in Christ, God has prepared for us to do good works through Christ (Eph 2: 8 – 10). Hence, we hope to share God’s goodness and blessings in our lives in our neighbourhood. Our desire is for the programs to help us form authentic relationships with our neighbours.

Presently, ENO has started three programs to bless our neighbourhood.

When: First 3 Saturdays of every month, Afternoon

Where: MacPherson CC, Level 3 Reading Chapter Room

This program is catered for young children (5 – 9 years old) who desire to improve their readings and English skills. For three Saturdays in a month, ENO Read Facilitators will lead the children in a time of reading English books which teach good moral values. After the time of reading, Art and Craft and/or simple English writing skills activities ensued to reinforce understanding of the story and deepen the learning new English vocabulary.

When: Every Saturday, excluding holidays, 10AM to 12PM

Where: Antioch@MacPherson, 18 Arumugam Road, Level 4

During school terms, ENO Tuition provides low cost English and Math tuition for primary school students through the help of voluntary tutors. During each 1.5-hr session, the ENO Tutor will use materials available from assessment books to revise the content learnt in school to bridge the learning gap for the children. The tuition group size is kept small (3 – 6 students to 1 tutor) so that there will be close monitoring and checking of understanding.

When: First 3 Saturdays of every month, 3:30PM – 5:30PM

Where: MacPherson CC, T-Net Club or Blk 64, Basketball Court

ENO Sports is set up to engage children in sports and leisure activities during their free time. For the older children, a dodge ball interest group is set up for them to enjoy learning the sport. This simple ball game provides the older children opportunities to learn about the discipline of obeying game rules and values required in a team game. For the younger children, simpler sports and team-building games are planned to cater to the physical limitations of their age. These learning opportunities will build up the character of the child and ensure that they spend their free time in meaningful activities.
