WHO WE ARE
OUR VISION
To see every believer following Christ daily, knowing and obeying His Word, growing in love for God and people.
Within the church,
we desire to be a Spirit-led community that is Word-based, prayerful, caring, serving and mission-minded.
To the world,
we share God’s goodness and works that they may see Christ living in us and become Christ’s disciples too.
OUR MISSION
To be Christ’s disciples making Christ’s disciples.
WHY EMMAUS?
Our name comes from Luke 24, which records the incident where two disciples encountered Jesus on the road to Emmaus. Knowing that it was Jesus who spoke to them, they said,
“Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” – Luke 24:32
These two disciples then went back to Jerusalem to tell the other disciples about their encounter with Jesus.
Subsequently, in obedience and with transformed lives, the disciples of Christ went forth to proclaim Jesus.
OUR BELIEFS
We are a local church, called to be a model of the universal church.
We are believers who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, joined together as the Body of Christ to:
- Exalt God through Worship (Revelations 4:10, Philippians 3:3 & Matthew 4:10) and Prayer (Acts 2:42 & 47);
- Edify the saints through Instructions of God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and Biblical Shepherding (1 Thessalonians 5:14); and
- Evangelise to the world through Local Missions (Philippians 2:15, Matthew 5:13-16 & 28:19-20) and Overseas Missions (Acts 1:8).
